Who we are
Jessica and her husband, Travis, are the force behind Black Dog Pottery. With Jessica’s eye for creative avenues for play, art and pottery, she blends her previous experience with her passion for pottery. As a vendor at Country Chicks and the Farmer’s Market, as well as owning Black Dog Pottery, Jessica has art in her soul. Throwing a piece of clay on a wheel and bringing it to life as a beautiful piece of art is Jessica’s personal creative outlet. Helping others turn pre-made pottery into personal masterpieces is a business that merges passion and play.
How did we get here?
Black Dog Pottery was born of a desire to create a fun, creative space in Lewis County for friends and family to let their artistic energy flow. After a decade of marriage, merging life, family, and a shared love of dogs – art, in its various forms, continually bubbled to the surface. Photography, craft/vintage resale, throwing clay, pottery – whatever the form, Jessica’s passion and Travis’s supportive insight, culminated into Black Dog Pottery. Pursuing a hands-on experience and inspiring others to discover the artist within – that’s what Black Dog Pottery is all about.
Our Name Sake
Black Dog Pottery’s name is a tribute to Jessica and Travis’ late boxer lab, Gabby. Not having children of their own, their dogs are a vital part of our family and Gabby was something special. Jessica and Travis always knew that they wanted to own their own business someday. It was just fitting that they should name it after Gabby who was inspirational, comforting, and playful…all the things you could want in a pottery place.
